Conventionally, the MR16 bulb was a halogen lamp filled with a mixture of halogen and inert gas that gave the lamp superior longevity over other standard bulbs. By comparison, the MR16 provides compact and powerful lighting.
The “MR” in their name stands for “multifaceted reflector.” This refers to the angular facets surrounding the filament in conventional bulbs. These facets were covered by a highly reflective coating, providing powerful lighting and precise beam spread.
The “16” in “MR16” refers to the size of the bulb being 16/8 inches (51mm), with other common sizes including MR8, MR11, MR13, MR14, and MR18.
How they’re used:
MR16 bulbs see wide use in a variety of lighting applications. Many 12-volt fixtures have been designed to utilize MR16 bulbs with their distinctive two-pin bases. While they see some niche applications as diverse as bicycle headlights to slide projectors, they’re most frequently found in designer lighting fixtures that fall under several common uses such as track lighting, task/desk lighting, pendants, and landscape lighting.
Why you want them:
Our LED MR16 retrofit bulbs are more efficient, versatile, and last longer than conventional halogen MR16 bulbs which operate at incredibly high temperatures and can cause severe burns with direct contact. Our MR16 bulbs eliminate this issue by operating at low temperatures.
EmeryAllen bulbs are compatible with most magnetic and electronic LED-compatible transformers, along with most MLV and ELV dimmers.
When you choose an MR16 from EmeryAllen, you’ll save considerable energy compared to conventional halogen bulbs. More than that, you’ll also get as much as ten times the expected life from our bulbs. There is no compromise in the compact size, versatility, and superior light output that you expect from an EmeryAllen bulb.

I had several of these MR16s installed at my house over a year ago, and they’re still running strong every night! Such a difference from the old landscape lighting I had prior. Haven’t had to replace any of these from EA, while the bulbs from my old installation started quitting on me within a month or two. You get what you pay for with EmeryAllen – quality products and support!

Fabulous landscape bulbs, I purchased the 7W 4000K 60° variety and they work great for my floods. Bright and crisp light, with the hint of warmth that I wanted. The bulbs have wide ceramic bases which help them sit securely in my fixtures. You can feel the quality of the construction of these bulbs when you take them out of the package. Extremely happy with my EmeryAllen purchase!

Excellent product (7W 3000k MR-16 bulbs). Robust housing. Good color/beam spread. But more, it did the job other bulbs could not. I have these bulbs in light fixtures mounted on the front of my garage door opening. The preceding two brands of LED bulbs I installed both blocked the signal from my car’s remote to the garage door opener. As promised, these EA bulbs cleared that bar and did not interfere. Much thanks!

Purchased as replacement for a bulb that went out in one of my patio landscaping well lights. Works and looks great!

Purchased the 7.0 W 120 degree SWFL 3000K, replacing some other LED that started going bad after 1 year. Very happy with the warm 3000K. The 120 degree bulbs are perfect for my kitchen, much more welcoming than the 4000K I’m replacing. Very happy with the EA bulbs.
