Brief History:
Traditionally designed as a halogen bulb for applications where directional light was required, the original PAR36 could be found anywhere from automotive headlamps to farm equipment, even in aircraft for landing lights among other places. These incandescent and halogen bulbs would be bright but put off an immense amount of heat in the process.
How They’re Used:
Today, the PAR36 bulb is most frequently found indoors or outdoors in commercial or residential settings such as hotels, restaurants, office parks, and homes. Inside, they’re often used in track lighting, recessed lights, and similar fixtures. Outdoors, the PAR36 LED bulb is an excellent choice for illuminating building exteriors and large trees. One of the best aspects of the PAR36 for landscape lighting is the ability to fit them flush into in-ground fixtures. This creates a seamless unobtrusive look that makes landscape fixtures virtually disappear in the daytime, while also allowing for easy landscape maintenance, such as making it nearly impossible to hit any fixtures with a lawnmower as an example.
